The Forks, Winnipeg – The first portion of Assiniboine Credit Union Rivertrail (ACURT) is open today from The Forks to Osborne.
“While the trail won’t officially be open for about a week, we have managed to clear and groom the first section in time for the New Year’s celebrations tonight,” says Paul Jordan, Chief Operating Officer. “There’s a fantastic rink in the historic port and a good portion of trail to skate, walk or run.”Assiniboine Credit Union Rivertrail is the Guinness World record holder for the longest naturally frozen skating trail in the world, with 8.54 kilometres. While the Red River is not an option this year due to frazzle ice, plans are still underway to reach Assiniboine Park along the Assiniboine River.
Assiniboine Credit Union River Trail is maintained and programmed through a collaboration between The Forks Renewal Corporation and Festival du Voyageur.

La Fourche, Winnipeg – La première portion du Sentier d’hiver Assiniboine Credit Union (SHACU) est ouverte aujourd’hui de la Fourche jusqu’à la rue Osborne.
“Le sentier ne sera pas ouvert pour une autre semaine. Par contre, nous avons réussi à déneiger et préparer une première section en temps pour les célébrations de la veille du jour de l’an ce soir!” affirme Paul Jordan, Directeur des opérations à la Fourche. “Il y a également une patinoire dans le port historique ainsi qu’une bonne portion du sentier pour patiner, marché ou courir. ”Le Sentier d’hiver Assiniboine Credit Union est le plus long sentier naturellement gelé au monde, un record mondial Guinness. Le sentier s’étend sur 8.54 km des rivières Rouge et Assiniboine. Malgré le fait que la rivière Rouge ne pourra être utilisée cette année suite à de mauvaises conditions de glace, nous étendrons le sentier sur une plus longue distance sur la rivière Assiniboine.
Le Sentier d’hiver Assiniboine Credit Union River Trail est géré et programmé grâce à un partenariat entre le Festival du Voyageur et le Forks Renewal Corporation.
